Hello [NAME],
The registration date for the
TransPortugal® Garmin 2010 is less than one month from now and the
preparation for this big adventure already started.
It seems like yesterday but more than 3 months have passed since the
participants of the 2009 edition have crossed the finish line in
Sagres.
By the look in their faces and the happiness in their eyes we can tell
that was an unforgettable week. Many, many kilometers of stories and
breathtaking landscapes were recorded in everybody’s minds who have
crossed this beautiful country.
Friendship bonds to last for a lifetime will prevail among the
participating athletes who came from 12 diferent countries including
distant China or Brasil.
Also worthy of a mention is the always welcome feminine presence, 16% of the athletes were women, a new record.
Competition wise this was a very exciting and successful edition with
some sprint finishes in almost all of the 100+ kms long stages and
places in the general classification being decided by few seconds.
Not even in the last stage could some of the top riders had a more
relaxed ride and enjoy the magnificent sunshine and the blue ocean on
their approach to Sagres, due to the intense competition that were
having do gain or secure a place in the classification.
NEW DATES FOR 2010
For the 2010 edition of the
TransPortugal® Garmin, the dates were anticipated a month to let
everybody get a better chance to enjoy the milder weather and the
flowery countryside of the portuguese Spring. 30 April to 9 May are the
dates to be noted down in your agendas.
NEW TRAILS FOR 2010
There will be a few changes in
next year race. We added one more racing day, now 9 in total. The new
layout will give us the chance to ride through "Serra da Estrela", the
highest mountain range in continental Portugal which highest peak rises
some 2000 meters above sea level. With their challenging descents and
matching uphills these mountains allow for some of the most scenic
trails in the country. With luck, may be still with some patches of
snow on the ground.
ENTRIES
Those who dream about
this race and want to come for the first time, or wish for repeating
the unforgetable experience of a past year, need to be focused. Alike
previous years, the 2010 race entry form will only become available
online in the race webpage from 00:00 local time on 1st October 2009.
Judging by the numerous phone calls and emails we keep receiving we
foresee a big rush this year, so please don´t get distracted, be in the
first line on October the 1st or your dreams won´t come true for
another year. Don´t forget the race is limited to 60 riders.
