A Garmin Portugal é de novo e desde o primeiro ano o patrocinador exclusivo da TransPortugal Garmin. Sem este imprescindível apoio, seria praticamente impossível garantir a viabilidade de meios e a qualidade deste evento. Os nossos sinceros agradecimentos a estes nossos parceiros para quem a Transportugal Garmin é um pouco deles também, se revêem nesta prova e vibram com o seu êxito.
Ano após ano a Transportugal Garmin tem vindo a afirmar-se como uma das provas mais carismáticas do seu género.
A adesão verificada este ano por parte de quem quer nela participar, superou as nossas mais arrojadas expectativas e foi impossível cortar a tempo as entradas das inscrições, o que fez com que em vez das 60 inscrições permitidas, acabamos por ficar com 75. Este facto obrigou-nos a alguma ginástica e a optar por soluções extraordinárias no que se refere ao alojamento dos participantes e de elementos da Organização nalguns locais de pernoita de limitada capacidade hoteleira, como são o caso de Freixo, Alfaiates e Monsaraz.
Estamos a 2 meses do arranque da Transportugal Garmin 2009 e a nossa equipa já terminou os reconhecimentos no terreno. Depois da neve e da chuva vieram dias de sol e temperaturas amenas que nos ajudaram a completar o trabalho no terreno. Tivemos a oportunidade de pedalar pelos melhores trilhos de Portugal, os trilhos da Transportugal Garmin, quando toda a envolvente natural desabrochava para a Primavera que se avizinhava. Mais uma vez constatámos quão belo e acolhedor é o nosso país, sobretudo para quem viaja pelos locais mais remotos e inexplorados onde o tempo teima em avançar em uníssono com a naturalidade e a magnânima quietude desses locais cuja beleza não se descreve com adjectivos de frases batidas nem se consegue reproduzir em rectângulos de papel fotográfico, mas antes essa beleza é para ser vivida no momento que passa, trespassando-nos o consciente e enchendo-nos a alma da "bem-aventurança" de estarmos vivos.
Foi pois, neste clima de profunda satisfação que a nossa equipa acabou o trabalho no terreno e está agora dedicada a todo o trabalho administrativo para aprontar toda a logística para o grande dia 30 de Maio, dia 0 deste grande evento.
TEST RIDE
Como habitualmente vamos este ano convidar os participantes e amigos que querem efectuar um teste numa das etapas da TransPortugal Garmin 2009. A nossa ideia com este teste é receber alguns inputs sobre a qualidade do traçado, a sua dureza, a precisão e fiabilidade do track GPS da etapa, a colocação dos CPs e o equilíbrio na alternância dos pisos. Em simultâneo proporcionamos aos inscritos uma sensação do que é a TransPortugal Garmin e dar um exemplo do traçado escolhido para 2009. Será pois sábado 4 de Abril e a etapa a testar será a mais longa deste ano, precisamente Castelo de Vide - Monsaraz na distância de 162 km.
Os interessados devem enviar-nos um Email expressando esse mesmo interesse para que lhes possamos dar toda a informação necessária. Convêm no entanto reconhecer que não será fornecido pela nossa parte qualquer tipo de apoio logístico aos Intervenientes.
A TRAVESSIA
Outra forma de treinar nos trilhos da Transportugal Garmin é fazer a Travessia de Portugal em BTT que neste seu 11º ano percorrerá mais de 90% dos trilhos da prova cerca de um mês antes. Ou seja a 2 de Maio de 2009 começa em Bragança e ao ritmo de passeio durante 15 dias faz-se uma viagem inesquecível percorrendo 1165 km para chegar a Sagres a 16 de Maio. HELLO [NAME],
Since the first year of the TransPortugal, Garmin has been the exclusive sponsor of the race, and this year it is no different. Without their incredible support, it would be impossible to run the race, or to ensure the level of quality everyone has become accustomed to. We must therefore publically thank Garmin for all they have invested in the TransPortugal Garmin.
Year in and year out the TransPortugal Garmin has confirmed that it is one of the most charismatic mountain bike stage races.
Sign up by those of you who wanted to participate exceeded all our expectations, and we didn't manage to close registration in time. Therefore, instead of the planned 60 racers registered, we have ended up with 75 racers. This change of plans has meant we have had to work rather hard to find solutions in terms of accommodation in some of the smaller villages where we stay, where the hotels are rather small.
It is 2 months until the Transportugal Garmin 2009 starts, and we have now finished all the reconnaissance work out in the field. We have been out in rain and snow, but over the last weeks the sun has come out and the temperatures have risen, which has made our job easier. Once again we had the chance to pedal on some of the best trails in Portugal, the trails where the Transportugal Garmin will pass, when spring has been in full bloom. We don't need to be reminded about just how beautiful our country is when you chose the “back road”, the unspoilt landscapes where time moves more slowly.
So, now we have finished the work out on the field, it is heads down on sorting out the administrative matters and logistics for the race, to ensure everything is running smoothly for the 30th May, when we will all be in Bragança.
TEST RIDE
Similarly to previous years, we are inviting participants and friends to take part in a test stage prior to the race. This is your opportunity to ride a stage of the race, to give us feedback on how you find the route, to tell us how hard you find it, how accurate was the GPS track, the placing of CPs and the variety of terrain. This gives those registered to do the TransPortugal Garmin a chance to get a feel for what the race will be. This test ride will be on Saturday 4th April, and we will be testing the longest stage of the race, from Castelo de Vide to Monsaraz, a distance of 162 km.
If you want to participate, please send us an email letting us know you plan to come along and we can send you all the necessary information. You must remember that we do not provide any kind of logistic support for this event.
The “TRAVESSIA”
Another way of training for the race , and to test the trails of the TransPortugal Garmin is by participating in the “Travessia” mountain bike tour. This two week tour has been running for 11 years now, and travels on over 90% of the trails the race will use the following month. The tour starts on the 2nd May in Bragança and reaches Sagres 15 days later. This is an unforgettable journey of 1165 km across all of Portugal.
