REGISTRATION OPENNING DATE
We are only a few days away from October 1st, TransPortugal Garmin registrations opening date. Only 60 spots available.
The entry form will become available on-line at 00:00h GMT on October 1st in the race web site www.trans-portugal.com .
If you want to know what information you need to fill in the entry form, go to the website now and see a copy of it on screen.
Please do not send it to us by any means. Your entry in the race can only be validated by submitting the entry form that only becomes available in the web site at 00:00h GMT on 1st October.

REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION
After you have submitted your entry and you are one of the first 60, you will receive an email from us within the next 2 days with precise instructions on how to proceed with the payment of at least 50% of the entry fee. You will then have 10 days to comply.
The entry form will be removed from the web site as soon as we get 90 racers’ registrations. The last 30 will automatically become part of a waiting list. If this is your case you will be informed of your position in that list.
Judging by the amount of emails and phone calls we have been receiving lately, we foresee a big rush on the first minutes of the opening hour, and of course places in the race will surely be totally taken in a short time. If you really want to get in and be part of this unforgettable adventure next year, be ready by your PC at the time registrations open.
But if you miss it or simply prefer to ride the very same trails but in a more relaxed way without the stress of a competition, then come a month later June 6 to 19 to our tour 12th Travessia de Portugal, already a classic in the Mountain Bike scene in our country. A 1200k long trail that crosses the country north to south more or less on the same route as the race. Click for the tour info in www.travessiadeportugal.com
THE 2010 ROUTE RECOGNISANCE IS ON THE WAY
Taking advantage of these last long summer days, we have already started working on the future trails of the 3 new stages that will take the race to Estrela, the high mountains of the centre. The 3rd stage of TransPortugal Garmin 2010 looks very promising. Not only it has superb and breathtaking landscapes but also it is very demanding with its steep long climbs to take the riders to close to 2000 m of altitude.
Right at the start of stage 3 coming out of Guarda, the highest town of Portugal, there is this really steep trail, going higher still, to a ridge crowded with wind generators, on one side one has magnificent views of the town with its majestic cathedral and castle tower, and on the other side, the Mondego valley. Mondego is the biggest river in continental Portugal. However, the most impressive and frightening views are ahead of the riders, the whole of Estrela mountain range where they are heading to.
Unfortunately there isn´t much time to look at the scenery, it is time to go down to the Mongedo valley on a roman cobble track called “Calçada Romana de Tintinolho” where concentration and skills are most required to take the riders down safely. Once down there by the river the look of Estrela is even more majestic and overwhelming.
